It's the only place where a tourist can be controlled or they kick you out.Google and other websites show pics of beautiful beaches, but the place overall is extremely poor and unsafe. The road lanes are extremely narrow , and cars can fall in ditches. When one explains how sneaky they are, they respond it's like that anywhere in the world. That's incorrect. It's cultural here. We travel globally almost on a full-time basis. This place is really bad.Safe yourselves from corruption experiences. You will not be happy.

Best for couples..sea is clean ..we can spend for 10 days many adventure activities like walk with lion,mud cart ,sea kart,quad bike in zoo,blu safari in sea and many activitis. It is heaven...

Good mall.. good shopping experience there... Most places you can find there... The scenery is also really nice... Especially like the food court there... Overall it's a very pleasant experience to shop there... Best thing is the timings there that end later than almost every other mall there

The best place to chill, have a nice time with friends and family. With the bowling, indoor football, 6 hall cinema theatre, comedy club showcase, shops from super cheap to luxury and finally a food court with food from all other the world. Bagatelle is definitely the place to be.

Biggest mall in Mauritius with having multiple brand stores in one roof. You can avail both food and clothing in your choices. Also great place for hangout with family and friends. We ventilated and spacious place.

Great shopping centre, lots of South African shops, best ones are Food Lovers Market, however they do not have a food island but can get any South African product on request which is a plus and also the Body Shop.

Nice view around this mall. Must visit and have a sit at food court with various options to taste. Dint shop anything as clothing was looking very costlier than India. Otherwise good to go and have fun.

I am told it is the largest mall in Mauritius. In one week, I visited this place about 5 times for different reasons, but topmost was the coffee and bubble tea options at Cafe Lux. They have an impressive assortment of global and regional brands, both in retail and in food. Children will also have a nice time in the mall, as there are several play spots. The fountain right in front of Ocean Basket seems a favourite for kids during weekends, especially early evenings when the water comes on.

Lovely mall with a very nice play area for kids. The play area(Doodland) is inside the mall and is very reasonably priced. My 4 year old enjoyed it, especially the pretend play section. The shops inside the mall have a good variety. Some well known international brands are available as well as some local brands. Prices vary according to your budget. There is also a cinema and some lovely cafes and restaurants. Most of the restaurants are all situated together so it's a good idea to walk around first before picking your spot, unless you know exactly where you want to eat. I was very happy to find a Spur which was very nice to visit. Food was tasty, but the service was quite slow. Parking is good with lots of options and requires no payment. Overall, a good experience.

We was there before open shopping center for use restroom. But its enough for enjoy atmosphere & see beauty of this place

A decent shopping mall that has a variety of brands including international and local. The mall is supported with hawker stalls, supermarket, a cinema, a food court and more.The only thing I would say that this mall could’ve been better supported with the public transport system, other than the buses. Wouldve been perfect if bagatelle had transit support with the metro, like it is with Phoenix Mall and Caudan.Overall, a good place to spend a considerable amount of time with family, friends or a loved one.

Feeling a little homesick... there are familiar international brand restaurants and some from South Africa... and plenty food, beauty and fashion stores... nothing like treating yourself to something beautiful to wear for your next outing on the town... Forgot to check in at the office, Cyber City is just around the corner...

Great mall. Most of the things are available here. There are some great stores and some good food options available here. There are many international brands available here. The road leading to the mall is also great. There is a beautiful flyover near this mall. It is one of the biggest malls in Mauritius.

Still the best mall in Mauritius in my opinion. The new Tribeca mall close by hasn't got the same vibe. There is so much variaty in shops and a great selection of places to eat. Lots of parking. Really worth a visit

This place is huge and very popular. Lots of changes since it was built. I like the food court and variety of food and the large number of stores available there.The new market is great and quite unique style. The price overall might not be cheap but at least we have many choices on food and brands/items which have different prices. Best Shopping Mall in Mauritius with a huge variety of shops, a great food court with ample restaurants. It also has prayer rooms. Besides, the toilets are hygienic and clean.

I had a fantastic time at Bagatelle Mall of Mauritius. The mall offers a diverse range of shops and brands, making it a shopper's paradise. Well only good things to say. There are five very well thought out escape themes, each with a very good back story. We did the prison break and another group the spicey story (about spices in Mauritius). Having experienced this sort of thing before Dodo Quest is definitely well worth the money and a great outing for team building, family or even a birthday party as we did. We will definitely be back.

We did the Prison Break. Its difficult and interesting. Should try for the first time. Good adventure even though i expected more rooms and escape stuff.

Great place to have fun with friends. Still prefer escape rooms to action games. So far, liked Prison Break and Mental Hospital best in terms of originality and fun. A bit disapointed with Buried Alive and Last Dodo, some props didn't work. Hope they add new rooms and themes soon.

great place to have fun with the kids. also nice to consider as a birthday venue as they let you bring your own food and drinks.

Went there for a project and had a great time. It was a unique and amazing experience. Would definitely recommend to other people.

Very friendly staff, pretty high quality escape rooms and intricate. Well done Dodo Quest. Wished there were harder and more challenging rooms, hopefully in the future. 😊 Need more puzzles per room and maybe we could have more than 5 people groups?

Absolutely loved it. We did the jungle quest. Remember, you will bang about with walls and stuff, it's part of the fun... exceeded expectations. Sorry can't post any pictures of inside as it was in the dark 😂

It was an outstanding experience as we went there for a project. We really had a great time. Staffs working there were really friendly and informative.I will surely recommend other people to experience it.

It's Easy to park at the beginning of the road. The hike is not difficult but bring a good pair of shoes because the ground can be slippery.

Nice and rather easy hike, more challenging till the end. Wear good hiking shoes.

Fantastic trekking activity and magnificent view from the top. Good shoes is must have ! Regular sport ones are enough - or hiking ones. Don’t even try to go there with sandals ! Like people say here, the wet rocks are really slippery so be cautious with stepping. Dry rocks are ok. Trail is really steep so you gonna burn some calories 😀With half an hour sitting on the top it takes around 2.5-3h for not a sport guy to get there from parking lot and back.Apes seen😀Place is not crowded at all, I met only local sport guys running there. Go there- will not be disappointed!

A must visit Peak in MauritiusA moderate trek from Port Louis and an easy trek from MokaI prefer the Port Louis trail as it is much more beautiful and challengingYou could spot a couple of animals like monkeys, molesThere is a stream on the way which has fresh water to quench the thirst of tired hikersThe way to the top is filled with wild guava which is a treat !On the trail from Moka you could also see a waterfallThe way to the peak is a bit tough , only slightly tough but the view from the top is just breathtaking!The entire Port Louis could be seen from the topBesides Moka , some parts of Curepipe can also be seenOne among the best hikes in Mauritius!A must try!

I am an experienced mountain climber. Reviews state that this is a very easy walk, I would say it is an intermediate walk with technical areas towards the top. Beware that this is a very muddy and slippy track, I ended up covered in dirt. Overall great views at the top, but the slippy mud does let it down a little!

Nice trail. Good start for beginners.

Climbing Le Pouce was such an awesome experience. I would describe this climb as easy/medium with the climb up the peak as more medium towards the end. Completely worth it for the amazing view. This is a must do/must check out. We were also lucky enough to see a little monkey closer to the top.

Great easy hike. Last 50ft or so are steep but nothing difficult or dangerous. Around 2 hours roundtrip.

Been here a lot of times. Really had great time..But my recent visit was a bad experience.. We went during sunset. It was dark while we descend.. When we reached down, we saw 2 or our cars’ side windows were smashed and broken. It was a robbery. Luckily we weren’t there while those robbers came. Police helped us..Please be careful when you are there, especially when it’s dark..

Best place for hiking but not the easy one. Track is getting harder and harder so prepare yourself properly. Track can be muddy and small stones can put you in a situation so put the best grip shoes and have a hiking stick as well it can help. Just near the top its very hard and you do need help don’t be shy people are very generous they help. Be careful with monkeys as well sometime they do come near you to for food but please don’t feed them they can be aggressive to snatch the food from you. While raining that place can be covered thick clouds again take a precaution.

Great hike, 1:30h for novice ones but definitely worth it. Be careful on the way, it can be slippery. Stay hydrated and pack a snack for the top - you’ll want to spend a bit of time there to take in the fantastic view.

If you have a car, it is good idea to start from Saint Piere. There is a little parking at the begining of the trail so its better to be there in the early morning. Trail is nice, also I don't think is as difficult as people are saying. There is beautiful view at the top.

Food is fresh and tastes good. Waiting time to get served around 30mins. Passionfruit iced tea tastes really good and homemade.

Pre-ordered way before and still waited over an hour to get the food.There was no one to serve us. I had to go inside and request for a waiter/waitress to take my order for drink.

Moka’z was one of my favorite places to eat.On Saturday I’ve been there for lunch but to my surprise, I was asked to leave my table. When i arrived, i asked for 2 seats and a waiter showed me a table which was not yet cleaned up. After several minutes of wait, i asked to clean it up but a lady very rudely asked me to change my table without even showing another one. I waited again unattended and had to leave immediately.Worst experience ever.

The desserts are a bit on the steep side of the price range. My red velvet was a bit hard. Maybe it was made a while ago. But the other desserts i tried were good and paired well with the coffee.

Excellent venue. Very open and inviting environment. The care they put in the food is top notch. For instance, the grilled chicken was a deboned chicken thigh which was juicy and tasty. The fish daube was boneless too with an excellent taste profile. Their serving portions are more than adequate. I highly recommend this place.

Their burgers are nice. Also tried the Ice tea tamarind , would definitely recommend it👌🏾. Service is slow when it's busy, waiting time would be around 40 mins if you are in a big group.

I expected a bit more dramatic scenery. Its just hole with trees inside it. You can have a 15 min walk around the edge and there is decent view over Curepipe, but I would skip this sight.

The place of the ancient volcano is amazing...and worth seeing. It is surrounded by many trees and rocks...which makes it mysterious even though it is inactive, as the volcano had a great impact on the formation of the island of Mauritius to what it is now...

The Vulcano is nice, but can't really have a great view to the button.The view around the Vulcano is awesome.

The roads are tiny to get there, so rent a small car. The Google maps doesn't give you 100% the right way to get there, so you will need to improvise a bit.It should be a tourist trail that has been properly made with signs and explanations about what happened there and when with the volcano...

The crater itself is covered by trees.The views from the site is not only beautiful.When viewing the surrounding mountains you get an understanding of the eruptions millions of years ago.

Great views of surrounding areas although this is a very green volcano and not much to see of it. This was part of a tour of the southern side of Mauritius so maybe not worth seeing on its own.

BEWARE OF TOUR GUIDEThe actual volcano itself is peaceful and there are a couple of viewpoints from which you can take good pictures. It's a pity that you can't go down into the area yourself. However, you can still take a scenic stroll around the volcano and appreciate the view. People often go for a jog around the site in the early morning or evening. There is a tour guide who goes by the name of "Joe" but whose actual name is Mr S Chaudhry. He is a Mauritian Indian gentleman in his 60s. He approached us and began telling us about the volcano. Before we knew it, we were on a personal tour around the volcano. He claims to be an official guide, and he may well be, but just ask him if he is going to charge you. It was only afterwards that he informed us of a charge of €10 per person (or 500 rupees). His tour was insightful and he did tell us some interesting history about the volcano. However, I wouldn't pay more than €5 per person. He told us that the Trou aux Cerfs Volcano itself is dormant but is linked to an active volcano on Réunion, an island not far from Mauritius. Whenever the volcano in Réunion erupts, water bubbles up at the bottom of Trou aux Cerfs. He mentioned the story of a group of slaves who went down to swim in this water to cool off, not realising that there was sulfur in it. They were burned by the sulfur and they died. They are buried in a small graveyard that you can see on your walk around. After the tour, he offered to take us to two viewpoints for an additional €10 per person, which he said were unknown to tourists and not available on Google Maps. One of them was called "One Way Ticket". I am convinced that he made up this name himself. He said that it was called this because of a steep drop and "once you go down, you don't come back up". The viewpoints themselves were disappointing and he spent half the time scaring us by telling us that drug dealers sometimes came to these locations to do or sell drugs. In summary, it's a nice spot to visit but beware of the tour guides!

Views are fantastic but walking around the volcano itself there is not much to see. Still interesting to visit

Its currently 23h47 and the noise in the room next to mine is unbearable. Reception is not helpful. No answer for the last 10 minutes.The rooms are poor reflection of the standards they claim to maintain.Staff are unfriendly and unhelpful.Food was not impressive.Definitely do not recommend this place. I arrived here 3 days ago and complained about my door not closing properly and still no help or interest.The teaspoon was dirty, walls are untidy, bathroom has rust on handles. Unbelievable really.This is my third visit to MU in 5 months and the first time I have come across such a terribly maintained hotel.

We got a room with an amazing view. The pool area was cherry on top. Variety of cuisine available in the restaurants. We had great stay.

I went there yesterday only to have dinner with my parents at the restaurant on the occasion of my birthday. The place looked very cozy and warm. The food was very tasty but the service took long and we had to ask several times to get a drink due to a lack of staff there. Overall I give the service a 6.5 out of 10. But we all had a great time there.

Inconsistent service both in there resturants and house keeping. Rooms smell damp and hotel in general is not in a great condition. Food at there resturants is inconsistent and you have to send it back as they either don't listen to what you want or the food comes cold. Breakfast is sub-standard. Complained about there scrambled eggs as it's full of water leaves your plate and bread all mushy - really gross and they still can't get it right after numerous complaints. Will not stay here again.

The room here was spacious and clean with a fine restroom. The place is second to home, I had a great and relaxed time here. Perfectly worth the pictures.

We went for a sushi lunch. Very good food... just on thing: service is sloooooow. So if you have anything else planned in the afternoon, tell them up-front

Beautiful place, nice and well maintained atmosphere. A home away from home. Great food, and excellent services right from the beautiful welcome u receive at the reception to the well kept rooms. What fascinated me in the room was the provision of a pressing iron and a board, well kept in a nice drawer. I really needed it. Keep it up. On a Thursday in my visit, there was a Karaoke night, and I really had fun.

We stayed here for one night at short notice, courtsey of Air Mauritius. Our MK042 flight to London Gatwick was delayed by 24hrs.On our arrival, there was nothing exceptional at reception. Initialy, they were a bit slow, but soon picked up pace, were generably amiable and easy to deal with.A charming member of staff brought our luggage straight away,and we were shown our room that we were not only delighted with, but felt comfortable altogether.The air conditioning worked a treat, the bed was comfy and the mountain range views were amazing from the 8th floor. And, we rested well.We enjoyed our evening meal of lamb shanks. It was a popular choice. Breakfast in the morning was aplenty. We liked the lay out, ambience and the quiet feel in the dining room.We did not used any of the leisure facilities at the hotel this time but hope to do so when we return there.The Hotel is ideally located in Eben Cyber City . Very good views of the gorge and lots of nice equipment for kids and adults inside the garden. It’s a common place for daily walkers and joggers. Had a good vibe and bonus is the Turtles at the Garden. There are also free roaming Monkeys which although cute, these are still wild animals and with kids there is s slight caution. Great place, calm and remote to all kind of noise pollution. Well maintained. It has its washroom, kids playground with benches and a kiosque with sitting.. ideal for meal. The parking is outside on the roads but it is quite safe, it has security guards at the doors and not to forget the giant tortoise park! Can improve on the grass maintenance. Had a great time with family last Sunday..

It's gorgeous! The hike from the small parking lot from Moka side took me about 1h 15min. The last part to the peak requires some real climbing so be aware of that. Also i'd suggest you start early. As for the view it's breathtaking, it's incredible, enjoy

Great trek, tough after rains. Be ready to dirty your shoes, back and pants. Don't carry too heavy a load. Really fun time with a partner or family, don't go alone! The trek took about 4 hours (Le Pouce Classic - Green color)Give me a like if this helped.

This is one of the most picturesque treks on the island with an almost 360 view near and at the top. This trek is somewhere between moderate and easy at the beginning (the lift is not small). However, there is a lot of climbing needed at the end of it if you wish to get to the Le Pouce Mountain Peak itself.The trek becomes very slippery and muddy after the rain, so one should be careful. Mind that the upper you go, the windier it gets. And it can be quite cold at the top because of the wind - I recommend having something you can put on. There are places where the trek is very narrow and there are also parts where you'll be getting through the bushes. But the view makes it up for all the challenges.The last part of the trek is basically climbing. We've seen some people dealing with it easily, when others not even starting. It is challenging indeed and there will definitely be a rush of adrenaline because of the height. But no matter whether you decide to climb to the peak or not - you'll be enjoying the views anyways.This hike takes around 4 hours both ways (in a muddy condition) - from the car park to the peak and back. So probably it won't take that long when it's not slippery.

Medium strenuous climb. MUST have hiking shoes with best possible grip since most of the trail is extremely slippery. I fell a few times coming down despite this being during the dry season. Beautiful views once you are up on "plateau". Don't risk final ascent if you have vertigo or bad shoes!

Easy hike, 2h round trip. Last bit to the top a bit more tricky, especially when wet, but the view is totally worth it.

The trek is relatively easy, the end is a bit steep but doable. We started in St. Pierre and it took about 1.5hrs to climb up (there's lots to see, nice views in all directions).Some people are just selfish and leave their garbage behind :( cans, plastic bottles and the like ). Shame on them!!!

Fairly moderate trekking with clearly marked trails. The last stretch leading to the peak was a bit challenging due to strong winds and rains.I would recommend wearing trekking shoes with a good grip if you are trekking in the rains.Lives upto the adage - Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations

Beautiful mountain, breathtaking views. Really recommend to visit, it takes about an 1-1,5 hours to get to the top almost. Last part to the summit is for more experienced people, but its really worth it.

Went there for a second time experience. It was even better. Very practical and accessible for those amateurs able to do hiking. Climbing the peak gives you the thrill and the views from the top gives you a breath-taking experience.What a view! Awesome.. go for it..

Two view points, local guide whos catch you by gate, will tell you some informations, whole time he says that Is his job and is payd by government, but at the end he wants 250MUR per person. Visited this dormant Crater in the morning, the view was amazing, there was dense forests on the sides of the volcano. Saw people coming here for a walk/jogging,A good place for clicking pictures and enjoy the greenery.

Trou aux Cerfs is locatedin the heart of Curepipe, there you will find a dormant volcano surrounded by nature; a vast area of lush forest consisting of indigenous plant species, some giant green pine trees, lush greenery, trees, flowers and a small lake at the center, I have never seen such beauty before. If it wasn’t a dormant volcano, I would have found my way down to lie on the untamed grasses and day dream about my prince charming but reality can be a pain in the butt sometimes.This is one of the famous natural tourist attractions in Mauritius, the dormant volcanic crater is around 605 meters above sea level, with a diameter of 350 meters and a depth of around 100 meters. Interestingly, Trou aux Cerfs is also known as ‘Murr’s Volcano’. It is believed that the Trou aux Cerfs volcano erupted once and has remained dormant for the last 700,000 years; experts believe that there is a potential chance for it to become active again.Here, you can get some souvenirs from the locals at a very cheap and affordable rate and you get a spectacular view of some part of Mauritius from the view point of the crater, you also get to see the majestic view of the Rempart Mountain, Trois Mamelles, and the Port-Louis- Moka mountain range. Awesome sight. When trains started running from Port Louis in the 20th century, settlement in Curepipe started. One can have good 360° views of the place from the top of the Volcano.

This was previously a site of an active volcano, now a beautiful area rich in vegetation.It is possible to see far into the distance from this high vantage point looking over Curepipe.The nearby Meteorological Centre is an interesting building.Car park nearby and a few locals selling food and gifts.A must-see when visiting Mauritius and having access to a car.

Paradise house. Time travel to 1836. Gorgeous interior design. You can freely walk around the house (it does not feel like a museum which was great. Not warning signs and restrictions like in a regular boring stiff museum) Very charming staff. Entrance 300 rupees per person (card accepted). Animals such as tropical birds, Chicken and dogs walking freely on the property. Parking available. Take 1-1,5hours relaxed. Behind the garden you can hike to the 4 waterfalls. Super nice but wear proper foot wear (no flipflop,hike can be challenging for elderly maybe) Restaurant was awesome with a breathtaking view,food excellent. Menu around 500 rupees (10€),drinks between 150-300 rupees,try Eurekas punch co*cktail with fresh orange juice-a dream. Thanks for this spectacular day & time travel to 1836!

Beautiful colonial house, nearby few waterfalls to see.

Lovely period home with nostalgic photos and news articles. Gives a great understanding of life in the last century and how the elite lived. The added bonus is the hike to the beautiful waterfalls in the ravine below the garden. Caution. It’s steep in parts and can be slippery after the rains.

It's beautiful place! You should put on sneakers, if you want to see the waterfalls, because it's hiking.Turtle lives in the first lake.What I don't like:1. Every step in down covered by leafs. It's unsafe in dry weather and dangerous when rainy.2. Sometimes you meet wood timber constructions. Don't to hold on - timbers are not good fixed3. Sometimes I din't know where to go - navigations is no good.4. House. If you up to the second floor, you will know that every door for staff.

Beautiful colonial house set in the backdrop of hills with a private waterfall!This is a beautiful colonial house with huge gardens, antique collection and a private water fall! We were welcomed by the staff. One of the members gave us a little tour of the place and briefed us about the history and the significance of the collections displayed. After this we walked to see the waterfall with the mansion. This involves a walk of about 10 minutes through the backyard of the mansion. The waterfall is nice and refreshing!

Very nice house and gardens. The waterfalls are amazing. First and second easy, the third is not hard, but the fourth are a wee bit tricky. If you want to visit the waterfalls wear proper shoes. Take your time, the view will amazing.

House is beautiful and the waterfall is beautiful but this is a review to the managemant. I am amazed how polluted it is with plastic garbage. Many waterfalls in Mauritius have this problem but it is ON A PROVATE PROPERTY THAT CHARGES PEOPLE 7 EUROS ENTRANCE FEE. For that money thay can at least take care. This garbage here is for a while. Shame on you.

Nice and very quiet 10 rooms only hotel residence, ideally situated for business people having to be both in Port Louis and Ébène cibercity. Best to have your own rental car, there is plenty parking space, and finding a cab here will be difficult. The left garden 1 bedroom unit has some humidity issues, better go for a front side room. Hard mattress, better like that. Sharp priced.

There is a great indoor Craft market where you can buy original hand made souvenirs direct from the artist. WiFi is available in some cafes and restaurants. It's an easy level stroll with ramps available for easy access to most areas.

Great place in Port Louis to hang around as rest of the city has very little to offer. Great dining options with great views of the port. Coffee shops, fine dining, fast food and pub is the highlight . The place also has shopping options and cinema hall. Very modern, uber chic' place.

This is the largest mall or shopping area of Mauritius. There are lots of shops and food places and this place looks beautiful because it is waterfront. It's a good hangout place.

It's indeed a lovely place to take a walk around either for sight seeing or actual shopping.Beyond that, there are other activities one can do at this mall. For those interested in history, there's a musuem, there's a cinema to watch movies with friends and family, a casino and there's a variety of shops ranging from pharmacies, to coffee, restaurant, to clothing, to groceries and many more.My favourite spots here are the floating umbrellas and the waterfront. There section for vegetables was the only reason I gave it 3 stars. but once you enter there is tourist souvenir section and the low key harassment begins. It can get really uncomfortable because we didn’t go for that but rather to just look around and have an “authentic” Mauritian experience but I guess not. Personally it was ok for a day trip but I wouldn’t go out of my way to see it. Not worth it in my opinion unless you want to buy cheap souvenirs at massively inflated prices.

Very busy location, attracting locals for the various food stalls and spice stalls. Then there is the tourist trinket stalls that attracts the tourists. Worth a visit for the experience and the continual selling pull from the traders and the bartering. Don't believe it is genuine Mauritian made goods especially the regularity of Christian Dior goods, think about where these fakes are made and the labour and the environments they are made in.

Buildings are old and streets are dirty. Looks like people here don’t care about their surroundings at all whatsoever. Probably India must look like this. Otherwise people are extremely friendly and no crime at all. So it’s a mix of good and less good.

The pushy vendors might not be so annoying if they weren't selling the same poorly made, overpriced garbage. Stick to the fruits and vegetables downstairs — upstairs is trash.

We only had about 40 minutes on an organised trip but this place is worth a visit. The top floor is very touristy and I'd avoid it. But the ground floor, with all the fruit & vegetables, is wonderful to walk around.I'd like to have had the time to explore some of the nearby streets.

It's definitely something to experience when you visit Mauritius.The market has everything from clothes, spices, fruits, veggies and traditional Mauritian dishes to choose from.Don't expect the market to be super clean. Unfortunately it is just a market which can be quite smelly due to all the meat and fish.It's also quite busy and the people could be overwhelming as they are quite eager to sell.Take cash as there are no card facilities.Enjoy your stroll through the market and end off your trip with a lovely meal at the waterfront.

Alouda Pillay as a cold sweet beverage along with Dholl Puri and Roti are the most popular snacks. Check out Pani Puri as well, spicy sauce available to water your mouth, a cold lemon juice to refresh you from the heat of the Capital City. Overall, it's very rich in culture, languages and its legacy will go from generations to generations !! Go visit as soon as possible

I really don’t know why people having trouble here very easy to barter. Here you MUST. They WILL Give you some crazy price or even have a price tag….disregard all that. Whatever they say cut it at least in half. Unless you just that dumb to pay the asking price. Hahaha ball cap 250r, magic box (small) 300r, incense (sandalwood) a case 300r vanilla bean grade A 8 sticks 300r, misc small trinkets less than 2USD. take your time look around get a feel for it. But NEVER pay the asking price. These guys are pros. Set your price walk away they will come after you with a counter offer. STAND your ground. If they want they will sell it to you. I personally spend less than $50 on a whole bunch of things. It’s a big tourist trap place but they have a lot of things to get as a memory of this beautiful island nation.

Most stalls sell the same curios that are clearly mass produced. The vendors are quite pushy and expect you to bargain. Be careful of engaging. The fruit and veggie section is a feast of smells and colours and feels more authentic.

Hi we arrived about 6 am to avoid Port Louis traffic so everything wasn’t open.It appears to be a very good fruit and veg market at that time of day. Perhaps other parts open up later but we were expecting meat products as well so a little disappointing. The market is old and was enjoyable to walk round. The vendors are very friendly and helpful, remember to take smaller money than a 500 rupee note I forgot and it was changed but it may have messed up her cash float for the day.When we left to drive back to Balaclava we were very happy we had chosen to arrive early asthe traffic heading in had built up. This was a Monday and had I been stuck in traffic on the way in trying to find a park I would have really really been disappointed.

Bustling market in the heart of Port Louis, set in historic building,with many traders offering a variety of quality and fresh vegetables. There is also a craft and clothing market upstairs, and a street food section. Well worth a visit to experience life as a local.

Beautiful place to visit. However they should keep it cleaner. The food court is an eyesore !! Flies, roaches or God knows even rats !The prices are very expensive if tourists don’t know. Better visit with a Mauritian or genuine guide. Overall, it is a must visit place if you’re coming to mauritius!

We visited the market as part of a guided tour with the "taste buddies" very inspiring, if you are looking for fresh food. Never tasted such tasty pineapples. The sugar cane juice was very sweet but great. Maybe with some rum, a great longdrink :-) but not at noon and not at 30 degrees and 150% humidity. Try the ayurveda tea shop next to the sugar cane juice guy and have a chat with him.

Crowded being old and common man's shopping centre for vegetables and fruits mainly. Not busy at odd hours. We got a good deal on shorts at a nearby shop at the junction.

Place has been properly preserved. Fitness machines available for all ages. Crater of dormant volcano can be seen through some angles. Has a considerable amount of benches and toilet is paid but clean. View of buildings (horizon) is impressive and recommended for amateurs of photography. Entire crater could be seen using a Quadcopter. Parking is limited but available though.

Trou Aux Cerfs is a famous tourist destination in Mauritius. This is a dormant volcano, located at a distance of approximately 30 minutes from Port of Louis. We had a beautiful panoramic view from the top and if you gaze down you can see opining of the dormant volcano covered somewhat with green algae.

Well preserved natural attraction, worth visiting, its both an attraction or sport area, perfect place to perform physical activities such as: Jogging, fruits such as goyave de chine can be gather freshly from trees

This is a volcanic crater with a lake in the middle. The road has been built right till the top, so one can directly drive to the crater and enjoy the scenary from the mountain top. Couple of best things to enjoy here are the scenic views of the surroundings and the cool breeze/wind at the top. Majority of the crater is filled with trees but the lake in the middle is good to look at.

While this dormant volcano hasn’t erupted in lifetimes, experts say it’s primed to blow any time in the next thousand years—a fact that lends a bit of edge to an otherwise peaceful excursion.I heard that, Trou Aux Cerfs is a german word which means (Hole of the deer.) A good place to look straight back into the volcanic past of the island

Trou aux Cerfs is a dormant volcano and is one of my favorite places to see Mauritius. The volcano itself is not amazing at all but the view over Mauritius from this place is great.Moreover, this is a key place for Mauritius, as the crater was formed during the volcanic activity that created Mauritius.Curepipe, close to this volcano, is also a nice place in Mauritius, especially for textile and handicraft shops.

Nice hiking area with different routes of 5, 13 or 20 km. We were lucky to see some wildlife (monkeys, deer, wild pigs, toads, bats and many birds). Also there is a enclosure with giant tortoises.You will have to register at the entrance and pay an entrance fee of 400 MUR/adult which we found quite expensive but at least it is for a good purpose.

Very nice wildlife reserve, providing beautiful views. You can hike on your own (5/13/18 km trail) or do a guided tour/4x4 tour (these definitely have to be booked in advance). Pity that the place is not promoted a bit more. If our host didn’t tell us to go, we wouldn’t know about it at all.

My wife, our seven year old son and myself chose the 13kms trail. Even though everyone was surprised with our choice, since our son was only seven, we completed the trail within time. Sweetly surprised by the beauty of the place. Thumbs up for the great trail.Completely taken by surprise was seeing two groups of deers. The first had four, while the second, six. And sure, the kestrel feeding is awesome. Make sure you reach the main forest lodge by noon to watch the feeding.

Went there to spend some time while waiting for my night flight, i wanted an easy short route, so i took the blue route, the place was very well signed, in fact the best one out of other places i went to. It was mostly flat, but you can go for harder routes (yellow and red) and go up the mountain. I would suggest water/hiking shoes, or hiking shoes you don't mind getting wet. I also took an umbrella since the easy route is not shaded. (To go to yellow/red, you also start with the easy blue routes). If you have knee pain when you squat, the blue route is fine as it is almost flat (highest is 75m) but you get to this height pretty slowly.

We went on a guided 2hr tour booked over the phone. 1600 rupees each.The walk is technically easy but has some long upward sections which in the heat of the day can be tiring.Bring water!Wear walking shoes or trainers.There are large tortoise.I was expecting to see kestrels but maybe they didn't want to see us.Excellent views of Lion Mountain and the sea at the higher point.The bus ride up is very scary!On booking the tour we added the restaurant - note - this is not next to the reception(which is what I was expecting) its about 2k away.

Definetely recommend!Dont forget snacks,raincoat,umbrella,sunscrean,insectspray,cap or hat,good hiking shoes and to have fun!!!

A nice and quiet place, away from the beaches. We took a 5km walk to the turtle‘s reservoir. It is a very green place and the Ferney people try to reforest the tropical wood. Good walking shoes and sun protection, sometimes you step through small rivers

Nestled in the heart of nature, this reserve offers a fantastic view that will leave you in awe.We opted for the 13 km trail, which, I must admit, felt longer than 13 km. The path, although rocky, was not challenging, and anyone with moderate fitness levels can comfortably complete it. My only suggestion would be to introduce shorter trails, perhaps an 8 km or 10 km option, for those who prefer a more concise trek.One thing to bear in mind is that the trails aren't particularly shaded. Therefore, it's essential to be prepared with proper sun protection, like a cap and sunscreen, to ensure a pleasant hiking experience.We encountered a few deer but luck was not on our side and we didn't see the kestrel.Before embarking on the hike, visitors need to register and pay an entrance fee at the reception located in the white colonial house. The reception has been relocated from the ex-sugar mill/factory. The staff were friendly and helpful.

We did a 8km hike which was really beautiful. There are also other trails (5km, 13km, 20km) with different ascents so you can choose depending on your time which is quite nice. But for all trails you have to pay a fee.

Tried the Blue track of 5km and which is flat. Enjoyed it and will definitely try the yellow one next time.

For me, this is the best place on Mauritius ! 13 km route is great with amazing views, 5km is ok but nothing to compare with longer distances. Please note they you have to in good condition!

Quite an effort to get all the way to the top. Google says its 340 Mtrs height change from the carpark.

If you are a new hiker please don’t come here. This is the hardest hike in Mauritius so far (provided you go all the way which I only recommend for experienced hikers)If you are new I recommend doing signal +grass peak then le pouce then le morne then come here. But if le morne is scary for your don’t even think about coming here. At least in le morne there are a lot of people around here you are alone. Bring someone with you don’t go alone.

Nice hike, moderate difficulty. Nice view on top with both the sea up to Le Morne in between Rempart and Tourelle, and urban cities up to Port Louis. Good shoes, water and spirit will get you on a nice hike.

Medium hike. The best view in and of Mauritius! Highly recommend. Start early as there are no places to hide from the sun.

It's pretty nice but it's not recommended to go during summer. It's just scorching hot there. No places to hide from the sun.Pro tip, just don't follow the marked trail on the left during your descent. It's just a long long detour. You'll run out of water during summer quickly. Instead use the same path that you used for ascend.

It really is an amazing vista . Really the best bit is getting there , go and get lost as the small villages and markets are wonderful. Keep on exploring until it’s all locals .

Easy drive to this lovely look out point. There are a few parkings available but no public toilets. You can walk down the hill a bit and pick guavas in season or just admire the view from up here.

Nice scenic view, it also have a nice sitting kiosk, some bins,The route down the kiosk is a bit slippy, be careful during rain season. Parking is not available, but you can park around. Keep in mind the route is a bit narrow and small so, please humble request park your car well. The kiosk is not that superb big but enough a nice little gathering. Don't throw your garbage in nature. Just put near the bin if it's full.

Nice views of Pieter Both and the Long Mountain. Also of the Creve Coeur valley.

Nice place to admire distant places from Malenga. The Pieter Both mountain is just at the side. Very calm environment. From the viewpoint we can see Crève Coeur village and other surrounding villages. There are stairs that goes down to Crève Coeur. Has a nice moment there.

A beautiful hike in nature, through the forest and down past numerous waterfalls, but very very technically hard and not an easy walk, with steep climbing areas where you have to hold on to rocks and trees to support your self. We walked a loop which took 6 hours and were fully exhausted by the end. We used a walking app with a detailed route to follow and still got lost in several locations, looking for fabric tags tied to trees or the paint markings to indicate we were heading in the correct location. In several locations we had to cross the river/streams, which was OK where could find rocks or trees to hold on to but the current was quite strong and up to waist deep. Its suggested you take a guide in these areas.

The waterfalls are sensational and it gives you the adventure feeling when you are moving through the path.I would strongly advise mosquito repellant, good shoes and lots of water with you (at least 2L just to be sure)I would point out the local guides, that they are trying to convince you, that you will get lost and that the police will have trouble finding you. The path is marked, but as we spoke, it is marked badly just so that you get scared and get a local guide yourself. The local guide wanted 1000MUR per person for 3 hours. I know they need to earn their money, but scamming, scaring and insisting that you need them is sad and far from being professional.I would strongly advise exploring the paths by your own, as it can be a wonderful experience doing it on your own and that the local authorities do something about markations (they are, but no so many just to nake you feel you need someone else). Maybe take a look into Youtube videos how to properly enter. You DO NOT need a local guideAnyway, superb. It is a must see on Mauritius

We arrived at about 12pm and went to 6/7 waterfalls. We had a wonderful guide, Kenni (+23057043769) who was our personal photographer, gave us sugar cane and suggested perfect swimming spots. I would highly recommend this trip and Kenni - the best in Mauritius

Definitely I underestimated this place. The forest near Tamarind Falls resembles primaval tropical forest, Black River Gorges are the only place where some of it survived on Mauritius.Falls are great. There was no much water but I enjoyed twice swimming under the waterfalls in deep pools

Great hiking that you could do in your own if you know the route. We used the app “Komoot” and replicated someone else’s itinerary across the waterfalls. At the beginning you will find some guides that will tell you you cannot do it on your own, and will try to charge you from 1.000-1.500MURWe visited waterfalls 1-5 in aprox 2h. Don’t forget to bring a swimsuit and change of clothes if you wanna try the water!

Super pretty and total doable hike if you are used to walking/trekking. There were slippery parts at times and we were happy to have out hiking boots.Don’t listen to any of the people near the trail start that try to scare you into buying the tours (on the day we were there, there was a man in a black t shirt from “7 cascades tours” trying to scare us by showing videos to us of people who died there, and saying that this tour is “impossible without a guide”). Just walk around him hehe.Just take plenty of water, your swimsuit, food, and mosquito repellent 😊

Truly awesome experience. Strongly recommended to visit if you’re interested in waterfalls - these are some of the best in Mauritius. Challenging to find the trails on your own (unless you YouTube it beforehand) therefore I think it’s worth taking a guide. We went with Shane who was terrific. 750MUR per person seems about right. Recommend to start at the bottom and work your way up. We loved it. The waterfalls are sensational.

Location is some kind of a highlight in Maurice, nice nature, nice view, nice falls in a beautiful canyon. Flying fox, beautiful birds and monkeys can be seen there.But it can be very crowded!Infrastructure to get there is not so good, but it's possible to get there by bus (stop: Henrietta), followed by approx. 20min hike on the road.At the bus stop you might be directly surrounded by some strange and offensive locals, trying to get hired by adventurous tourists in order to guide them "safely" through the jungle, drive them home with their taxi etc..On "Komoot" App you can see the full route through the canyon.You definitely do NOT need a local guide. It's easy to navigate there using gps.However, you will definitely bring very good insect repellent, comfortable clothes and very good hiking boots.The paths are very natural, brittle, very steep (some would call it climbing), highly slippery and very dirty. After some little rain, expect to slip and get muddy. And of course mosquito-bites.Also expect to be slower than normal, because paths are not officially maintained.In the end it is OK, but if you missed it you do not need to be upset.

Very adventourus hiking path.Don‘t go without a guide.Many people on the short loop, barely any on the long loop — which is a bad thing.Beautiful nature, but very demanding path: Slippery even with top hiking equipment, steep ascents and descents, marking for the path often difficult to find.If you‘re not very fit and well prepared — better take another path.

This hike would be a nightmare without the help of Manish.Manish was great guide and it was obvious he knew the terrain well making our experience much more enjoyable plus he saved us lots of time.Manish has great customer and personal skills with an eye for a detail when it comes to little things like helping you out of pool or providing you with towels.Overall I am so grateful we meet Manish.Great service and experience

We stumbled across Manish at the hike trail start, with us having no clue about how to navigate ourselves and we're really glad we did. He was professional, honest, patient, full of knowledge, and a really nice fella! He took amazing videos, well thought out photos with our phone at no extra cost, and had our safety first throughout. You will be in good hands if you choose Manish for your 7 cascades hike.

I found Manish on Google maps, and liked his reviews. As his website mentions 24/24 open I called him 06:40 if he had time this morning. 07:35 I was there and we descended to the first waterfall. I was glad we went in the morning when it was still relatively cool and we walked in the shade of the valley edge.The descent was 70% steep at places and while you could hang on to tree trunks left and right I sometimes choose to climb backwards hanging on to tree roots. At the bottom of the waterfall we crossed the river via the cave hollowed out by the waterfall, a great sight.At one of the waterfalls I swam in the pool below. It was a great experience and also brought my body temperature down from all that climbing (I'm 60 years old). Seeing how hard the climbing was for me Manish offered to carry my rucksack. After the 4th waterfall I swam again, cooling down.I was glad I only booked the first 5 falls, but we still needed to climb out of the valley. Here I really suffered. Every 4 meters up I needed a pause, to bring my breathing back to normal. I cooled my head by splashing drinking water over it. Eventually we reached the top and I was proud I made it out without needing to be rescued by a helicopter.I highly recommend doing this tour if you are in good shape.

We had a great half day tour with Manish. He showed us some very nice spots that we would have never found on our own.Manish granted our safety at any point in time by helping us to identify and overcome difficult sections of the path.He was extremely nice always asking if we were fine.Furthermore, he has a great talent in taking pictures and offered taking lots of them.We are very greatful for the superb experience we had and highly recommend doing the 7 Cascades Tour with Manish!
