How To Respec Spell Points
What Gear Should You Use?
V Rising has a wide range of spells and weapons available for you to use and master. At the start of the game though, you won't have access to the full arsenal of spells, but it's still possible to get a good build set up with the limited resources that you have.

V Rising: Weapon Tier List
With 11 weapon types in V Rising, which is the best? Here, you can find a tier list of all weapons in the game.
In this guide, we are going to take a look at the best early-game build that you should focus on. Remember, you can choose any spells that you want, but this build will focus on the initial spells that you should unlock and use when first setting out.
Spell Loadout Overview
Fresh out of the starting area, you won't have any spells; don't worry though! As you defeat V Blood carriers around the map, you will get spell points to put into the spellbook.
Below, you can check out an early-game build, including what spells to use and how to unlock them quickly.
Spell Type | Spell | How To Unlock | Boss Level |
---|---|---|---|
Main Spell | Chaos Volley | Defeat Errol the Stonebreaker | 20 |
Secondary Spell | Ward of the Damned | Defeat Goreswine the Ravager | 27 |
Travel (Dash) Spell | Veil of Frost | Defeat Vincent the Frostbringer | 44 |
Ultimate Spell | Volatile Arachnid | Defeat Nicholaus the Fallen | 35 |
These spells can be unlocked fairly early into the game, with all but Vincent the Frostbringer being found in the Farbane Woods. Once you defeat each boss, you will receive a spell point that can then be used to unlock specific spells.
As you play, you will unlock more, but these spells are great options to choose from at the start of the game. In fact, Volatile Arachnid (which comes from the tier-three point given by Nicholaus the Fallen) is a great ultimate ability in general.
These spells are ideal for PvE content where the enemies are not other players.
Early-Game PvE Build Alternatives
If these spells don't really jive with your playstyle, we've got you covered. Below, you can check out some other great early-game skills that can be used instead of the ones mentioned above.
Spell Type | Spell | How To Unlock | Boss Level |
---|---|---|---|
Ultimate Spell | Merciless Charge | Defeat Quincey the Bandit King | 37 |
Primary or Secondary | Phantom Aegis | Defeat Polora the Feywalker | 35 |
Primary or Secondary | Power Surge | Defeat Errol the Stonebreaker You can also defeat Lidia the Chaos Archer | 20 (Errol) 30 (Lidia) |
Primary or Secondary | Corrupted Skull | Defeat Goreswine the Ravager | 27 |
Travel (Dash) Spell | Veil of Bones | Defeat Kriig the Undead General | 47 |
Travel spells don't really become available until you venture into the Dunley Farmlands. As such, these aren't quite early-game. Additionally, there are only six travel spells in the game (one for each Magic type).
How To Respec Spell Points
Did you choose the wrong spell to unlock? With the Altar of Recollection (which unlocks by completing the story quests), you can choose a Magic school to reset. For example, if you choose a Chaos Magic spell that you don't really like, you can reset the school.
This process does not use any resources; it's completely free!
What Gear Should You Use?
So, with your spells set up, which gear should you use? While still in the early part of the game, this isn't the most important. Below, you can check out a brief overview of the armor and weapons to use.
Armor
In terms of armor, you should basically prioritize the highest-level gear. At this point in the game, your gear will probably be made from the Simple Workbench. Here, you should make the Nightstalker gear, which can eventually be made into either the Grim Ranger or Warlock sets.
The Grim Ranger set boosts HP and physical power while the Warlock set boots HP and spell power. If you favor using your weapon, we suggest making the Grim Ranger set. If, on the other hand, you prefer casting spells, then make the Warlock set.
Weapons
Chances are, you will use a sword to complete early-game content. While progressing through the game, you will unlock new materials to craft stronger weapons with. At this point, it's totally fine to use the sword.
Overall, we recommend using a Merciless Copper version of your weapon of choice. This includes the sword, axe, mace, spear, crossbow, and longbow. It's a great idea to combine a melee and a ranged weapon.
For example, your main weapon can be the Merciless Copper Sword, while your secondary ranged weapon can be the Merciless Copper Crossbow. It's pretty easy to switch between weapons and make new ones, so you don't have to commit too hard to a single option.
