I joined The Nashville Child and Youth Collaborative late in 2023. It is a coalition of Nashville nonprofits interested in collectively advancing strategies that address the needs of Nashville’s children and youth. We elevate the voices of Nashville’s young people and raise awareness of best practices that support healthy child and youth development. We advance dialogue around effective and equitable policies that impact positive child and youth outcomes. We advocate for deeper investment in our children and youth. We work to focus city leaders on the challenges facing our young people to advance cross-sector solutions that improve the lives of our children and youth. We are calling on the mayor and other city leaders to publicly commit to these key actions: 1. Collaborate with communities, neighborhoods, and families2. Foster Strategic Alignment across government agencies to address needs of children and families3. Identify and Publicly Report on neighborhood needs4. Ensure Adequate Investments in systems and structures5. Create an Integrated System for Metro Government to ensure children and families can access services and support. We are specifically advocating for investments in:a. Early childhood development opportunities andhigh-quality childcare for children ages 0-5 to have a healthy start in life.b. Mental health to ensure every youth has access to affordable, high-quality mental health support.c. Community spaces to ensure all children and youth have equitable access to safe, high-quality learning and enrichment opportunities throughout the year. For more information on the work of the Nashville Child and Youth Collaborative, please visit: https://lnkd.in/eXmBvzNP

🎉 It's Day 5/31 of the "INCLUSION MARCH"!😊 Here is the secret ingredient to make your content shine! Yes, that's "Headings" the superhero of your content. Before diving into the steps have a look at the benefits of using real headings:🚀 Benefits:1. Enhanced Accessibility: Real headings support persons with visual impairments who rely on screen readers to navigate.2. Improved Readability and Smooth Navigation: Clear headings benefit each one accessing the digital space.🛠️ STEPS:1. Choose Your Heading Level: Start with your main title as H1, then use H2 for major sections, H3 for sub-sections, and so on, keeping the flow., 2. simply use the appropriate HTML heading tags (<h1>, <h2>, etc.) to mark up your headings.3. Review & Test: Ensure that headings accurately reflect the content. Don't forget to test your document or webpage using screen reader tools to confirm 🎯 Do's:1. Be Clear & Descriptive: Consider headings as your GPS tracker, to know what lies ahead. Keep them short and sweet!2. Employ Semantic Headings: Use real semantic heading tags (<h1>, <h2>, etc. These steps ensure your content is accessibility friendly.❌ Don'ts:1. No Skipping Allowed: Stick to the heading sequence (H1, H2, H3...), and resist confusing your readers. 2. Styling ≠ Structure: Avoid fancy headings. Fancy fonts and colors might look cool, but they won't help persons with low vision or color blindness to navigate.3. Say No to Vagueness: Avoid vague headings like "More Info" or "Click Here." Try keeping it on point.?I urge everyone regardless of their professional experience to inculcate accessibility and inclusion by following such simple steps.Hit "LIKE" to join this accessibility campaign!#march #inclusionmatters #empower #accessibilitymatters #webaccessibility #html #a11y #vj

🌟 Cultivating Passionate Work Communities🌟Recently, I had a fascinating discussion with Manoj Adwani about my hobby, and it sparked an exciting idea in his mind. We realized that by gathering people with similar interests, we could create a group within the company that could be leveraged to benefit our organization.💡From art enthusiasts to coding wizards, each person's unique hobby contributes to a diverse fabric of creativity and collaboration in our office. It's inspiring to see how openly embracing these hobbies fosters connection and enriches our work experience. 🎨💻Let's continue to celebrate our hobbies, encourage open dialogue, and nurture these communities. We get asked this alot: 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼 𝗔𝗻𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲? *Hint* It’s more than just the combination of “Anonymous + Innovators”. It’s a reflection of our journey as people of colour in the creative space. Here’s what I mean: 𝟭. 𝗪𝗲’𝗿𝗲 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗻. My roots are from the Caribbean while my co-founder is South Asian. As designers from diverse backgrounds? We often found ourselves as the hidden creators behind the scenes, our contributions and unique perspectives felt undervalued. Because of that, we always felt conditioned to be anonymous. 𝟮. 𝗪𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘂𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀. Everyone sees the end result, but few witness the birth of an idea and the hard work that goes into bringing it to life. We want to shed light on the creative process and acknowledge the people who make it happen, particularly the creatives from underrepresented communities. Talent, regardless of skin colour, should be valued highly. 𝟯. 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗲. We believe that diverse perspectives lead to innovative solutions. Period. The more we can uplift the people around us? The more we can create a thriving, inclusive community where everyone has the opportunity to make a name for themselves. Our name tells our story. - Erlen P.S. I’d love to hear from you. Does this message resonate?

How to Create a More Diverse and Inclusive Web3 Community 🌌 ☄ Feeling valued and heard is a powerful feeling. It's a feeling of belonging and connection. And when we're surrounded by people who make us feel this way, we're more likely to be engaged, productive, and creative. 🤝 Web3 communities are mirrors of the broader world. They reflect the diversity of our society, and they must reflect inclusivity as well. As community managers, we have a responsibility to create an environment where people from all backgrounds feel welcome and respected. 🔥 🔥 Here are some ways to create a more diverse and inclusive Web3 community:1) Be intentional about creating a welcoming environment: This means using inclusive language, being respectful of all members, and addressing any forms of discrimination or harassment. 😁 2)Promote diversity and inclusion in your community's policies and procedures: This could include things like having a code of conduct that prohibits discrimination or providing targeted outreach to underrepresented groups. 🗣 3) Celebrate diversity and inclusion: This could be done by highlighting the contributions of underrepresented members, or hosting events that celebrate diversity. 🎉 By taking these steps, we can create Web3 communities that are welcoming, inclusive, and thriving. 👇 👇 🚨P.S.🚨 If you like content like this.
